County Physical Therapy offers Fit-for-Duty Evaluations performed by licensed physical and occupational therapists. This evaluation is an objective assessment used to determine an individual’s ability to perform general functional activities or work-related tasks.
A Fit-for-Duty Assessment is a standardized test that is usually completed at the request of an employer. The assessment can be utilized for existing employees, or as a screening tool to help assist in the hiring and placement process. The test is tailored for the Clients specific job duties and responsibilities. Clients taking the test will be required to wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Clients will be completing a variety of tasks that may include the following:
- Walking
- Overhead activity
- Lifting
- Kneeling/Squatting
- Carrying
- Stair climbing
- Pushing/Pulling
All tasks are demonstrated to the client. Tasks are to be completed with proper body mechanics. The importance of the test is for the therapist to determine what the client is able to do safely. The test results are provided to the employer to assist in the job placement process.
