Certified Hand Therapy

Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) are Occupational or Physical Therapists who have extensive clinical experience and successfully passed an international specialty examination to obtain the CHT credentials, a designation only 4,000 US therapists hold. County Physical Therapy employs two CHT’s specialized in treating the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder complexes at our Bangor and Houlton locations. Their services include:301570321_5325193404200332_2119118898693189976_n

Most patients may have been affected by some sort of trauma to the hand or upper extremity; however, treatment also can include chronic conditions of the upper extremity such as:
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Cubital Tunnel
  • Tennis Elbow

Similar to physical therapists, our hand therapists complete a detailed evaluation process and set up a treatment plan to focus on getting patients back to doing the activities they love! Treatment approaches frequently include modalities, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, education, and tailored home programs when appropriate.
